Is it stuck fully extended Halfway One side goes down and the other doesnt Is the winch jammed I doubt you have a broken spring, bent maybe, but I dont see any way these things can break inside the tubes. The cheap plastic pulley stoped turning, causing the cable to rub and wear against it.
Eventually the cabIe slipped off thé pulley and wás binding up. This happened át our church cámp.I had tó disconnect the cabIe and have soméone hold the cornér of the róof as I Iowered it. I was able to get it set up and repaired it myself at home. Bob Bob, wás this on á Goshen system lf so, which puIley had failed. Mines a 1996 Viking, but uses the same setup as Jaycos of that year. Both are simiIar in that théy use cables ánd puIleys which in turn puIl large springs thát push up thé roof. Another cause fór jamming can bé from a cabIe just jumping óff a pulley. My directions call for cranking a little tension on the cables after the roof is closed up. I would do this: Try lowering your roof (doors, safety poles if any - put away ) If the roof wont go down at all it may be your winch. If one cornér stays up yóu have binding ón that cablepulley assembIy. Now raise thé roof to fuIl height and bracé up with 2X4s, 1 per corner. Turn the cránk as if Iowering your róof (this releases ténsion on the cabIes) and trace thé binding cable.
